Good Bye

June 22, 2008

Well it has been awhile since I posted and it will be awhile before I do again.  Several things have happened that have prevented my from posting.  I ask for your prayers as my mom has had a stroke.  She is doing better but is in rehab.  This stroke has affected her right side, she is getting mobility back but very slowly and she is not regaining strength.  Also her memory and speech have been affected.

Other things that have kept from posting is my health.  I am having some problems and undergoing lots of testing.  Please pray for me that all turns out well.

It has been nice getting to know many of you and I pray you have a wonderful summer as well as a blessed one.

Take care and God bless.

Until next time…

My Baby Girl Turns 9!

May 12, 2008

My how time does fly.  I can’t believe that my baby turned 9 today.  Oh she is a sweetheart and I am so thankful for her.  I have been sick for several days with bronchitus and an upper respiratory infection so my energy level and strength has been somewhat limited.  She said to me today that she just wanted to have a quiet family celebration tonight.

So in her honor we had Hamburgers and Macaroni & Cheese.  Then we had cake and ice cream.  What a combination.  I’ll try to post some pictures later (if I can figure out this new wordpress).

Happy Birthday sweet baby girl.  I love you soooo much.  I couldn’t ask for a better daughter.  May the Lord continue to direct your paths.  I know He has big plans for you.

All my love,

Momma

God bless!

Until next time….

“My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw.

All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success

in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education

I received from her.”

The Camelion

May 3, 2008

A couple of years ago my kids went through this phase of liking lizards.  They would search for them and catch them.  For a while we had 4 blue belly lizards.  About a year or so ago, they died.  So we had a funeral for them and they are buried in my side yard.  Each with thier own “made up” coffin.

Recently they have been talking about lizards and wanting some.  Now I never really liked having lizards.  It was okay when they stayed in the garage but when winter came and it was to cold for them and they had to come into the house–I was a little worried.  I had visions of them getting out and finding them running across me as I slept.  So I was constantly looking in the cage and counting them.  When I couldn’t find one I would call my son–where is he?  Find him.   They never did escapte from thier cage, much to my great relief.  My husband would always tease me about really liking them because I looked in thier cage so often.  Little did he know.

Then last night at youth, my husband (youth leader for our church) asked all the kids “Who knows what a camelion is?”  Well of course all the boys knew and the girls did too.   Then he asked if anyone had seen one?  A couple of the kids had.  Then he asked if they knew how big they got?  This started a short discussion.  He told a story about when he was young, a couple of the kids told thier stories about lizards.  So I am sitting there listening and wondering where is he going with this.  This is youth group right.  We are supposed to talk about something “spiritual”.  Then he asked the question that brought it all together for me.  “What is the camelion known for?”  Some of the kids knew, some didn’t.

My husband went onto explain about how the camelion adapts (changes color) to it’s surrondings.  They use it for protection against their predators.  He explained that as Christians we don’t want to be like camelions.  Camelions blend in and match thier surroundings.  Christians need to be separate from the world.  We don’t want to fit into what everyone thinks is the latest fad.

He gave a few examples, the kids got involved some.  What was exciting to me was that our first time youth attendees really got involved in the discussion.

After a short lesson, we played games and had banana splits.  I think everyone had a good time.

I hope and pray that all those in attendance last night left with something that they will apply to thier lives.  Maybe they will be in a situation and they will remember “I don’t want to be a camelion”.

May you all have a blessed weekend!

God Bless!

Until next time…..

Science & My Kids

April 27, 2008

This past month my kids have been preparing for a Science Fair.  Each one did a research report, experiment and presentation board.  And they all chose different categories.  So this past month I learned about boat hulls (more than I ever wanted to know), how fruit turns into voltage (batteries), and all about plant transpiration (I still can’t say the word, basically it is plant sweat).

While it was alot of work, in the end the kids had a great time experimenting and putting thier boards together.  They weren’t to keen on the research but understood the need for it.  All thier hard work paid off as all three of them brought home 1st place awards for thier group (Grade 3, Jr High & High School).

I was proud of them and would have been equally proud even if they didn’t get 1st.

There were many great experiments and I know the judges had a hard time, but to me each and every child was a winner.  The projects they did and presented were awesome.

Here are some pics:

God Bless!

He is not here….

March 23, 2008

Praise the Lord!  Today we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.  I am so thankful that long ago it was proclaimed, “He is not here, but is risen:…”

For me Easter represents new beginnings, a new hope, a new life.  It is a glorious day outside.  The sun is shinning, it is a perfect tempurature and I look forward to our Easter Services today.

While I rejoice in the New Life Jesus has given me, I try to remember, especially at Easter that YES, Jesus lives, but if you think on Calvary, what He went through for you and me, I am once again amazed at His great love for me and you–for everyone.

A while ago I heard a song and these words from that song have stuck with me.  They are “I wonder if everytime I sin, Do you feel the nails again?  Do everytime I fail, do you feel the nails again?…”  I wonder, just as this songwriter wonders, does Jesus feel the nails everytime I fail, everytime I sin, when I get angry, etc.  What do you think?

These words prompt me to reflect on my actions, attitude and thoughts and cause me think.   It is my hope and prayer that one day when I see Jesus face to face, He will say to me, Well done though good and faithful servant, Welcome Home!

So today REJOICE for He is not her, but is risen!!!!

Today may you find a new peace, new hope, and if you don’t have it a new life.  If you are searching, Jesus is the answer and He gives you not only life on this earth, but eternal life with Him.

How do you find that new hope?  The answer is in the Book of Acts.  Repent, be baptized in Jesus Name and be filled with the Holy Ghost.  I can promise you one thing.  Life will not always be easy but Jesus will always be with you and He will never forsake you.  He died for you and me.  Is there a greater love than that?

Happy Easter and may you have a truly Blessed day!  God Bless!

Until next time….

Ever Have One of Those Days, Weeks, Months…..

March 20, 2008

Yes, it has been rough;  quite rough.  Just when I think things are starting to get better; bam, something totally unexpected happens.  Things have been getting so bad that I have been questioning my place on alot of things.

Yes–it has been one of those days, weeks and even months and about the only thing I know for sure is the God loves me.  With all the the things being thrown at me and being accused of I wonder why He would he love me or even want me, but I am glad He does.

One thing I have learned through the years is that God never changes and I am so thankful for that.

So ever have one of thoses days, weeks, months, etc?  Remember that God Loves You and HE never changes.  He is a rock you can stand on.

Sorry for venting….but I had to let it out.

God Bless!

Until next time….

Jehosaphat Who?

March 16, 2008

That’s what I first thought when preparing for my Sunday School Lesson that I gave today.  I am sure the kids in class thought, who is Jehosaphat?jehosaphat.jpgjehosaphat.jpg

When I first startalabaster-box-picture.pngalabaster-box-picture.pnging preparing for this lesson, I struggled a little with “How do I teach this?”  However, just as God came through for Jehosaphat, He came through for me.

Today I taught from 2Chronicles chapter 20, verses 1-30 and I used Luke chapter 7, verses 36-50 as an illustration.  What do these 2 very different stories have in common?  Both needed God to fight thier battles.  Jehosaphat’s was against Moabites, Ammonites, etc. and the Sinner woman’s was Spiritual.

Today I felt that God truly moved in Sunday School class.  I felt God there in class like I never have before and I received a special blessing.  It was truly amazing and awesome.  I really believe that God is working in the Sunday School class.  The kids may not realize it yet, but something happened and I believe that when they need the knowledge of this lesson, God will bring it to thier rememberance and they will be blessed again.

jehosaphat.jpgTo paraphrase the lesson, God fought a battle for Jehosaphat and all Jerusalem when they Praised God (praised him with thier very being).  It was very reverant.  It says in verse 22 that when they praised God, their enemy was smitten.  It goes on to say that when they met up with thier enemy they were all dead.  This really is an incredible story and you need to read the beginning to end to really grasp what happened and the awesomeness of what transpired.

The sinner woman’s battle was spritual.  She gave God what she considered her most prized possesion, an alabaster box of precious ointment.  She used that along with her tears and hair and worshipped at Jesus’ feet.  She praised him with everything that was in her.  And Jesus told her, “your sins are forgiven…Thy FAITH have made thee whole”.  Again we see God fighting her battle (spritual battle) when she praised him wholeheartedly (with everything that was in her).

I expressed to my class that we all fight battles whether spiritual, financial, work related, etc. but that if we first “Seek God”, “Believe God”, and “Praise God”, He WILL fight our battles.  How amazing is it that “God” cares enough about me to “fight my battles”.  Well He LOVES Me and YOU that He died for us.  How much greater a Love can you find?  None, there is no greater Love than that of God for us.  Truly past my comprehension, but I am soooooo very thankful for it.

Do you have a “battle” that seems immpossible to you?  Well I have a God who makes the impossible, possible.  Seek God, Believe He will do it, and Praise Him like there is no tomorrow and you WILL see the impossible become possible.  Will it happen immediately?  Well I can’t say yes, but I do know that God’s time is always perfect and HE ALWAYS, ALWAYS answers Prayers.

“You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord [Who is] with you, O Judah and Jerusalem.  Fear not nor be dismayed.  Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

2 Chronciles 20:17 (Amplified Version)

My paraphrase:  “You don’t need to fight this battle; take your position (seek God & have faith), stand still (Praise God) and see the deliverance of the Lord (your battle fought by God for you)…….For the Lord is with you.”

May the Lord Bless You and may you see many battles fought in HIS NAME.

Until next time….

The State vs. Peter Pan

February 29, 2008

Tonight my family and about 14 other families from our homeschool group traveled to Stockton Law School.  The school let us use their court room and even provided a real judge.  At the school our kids, about 25, put on a “mock trial.”  The State vs. Peter Pan.

In this trial Peter Pan was accused of kidnapping the Darling children, Wendy, Michael & John.  There was a defense team, a prosecution team, witnesses, baliffs, court clerk, the judge, jury and Peter Pan.

The prosecution brought witnesses and evidence to prove Peter Pan’s guilt.  Witnesses included:  The arresting officer, Nana the dog, and Captian Hook.

The defense took thier turn bringing forth witness to prove Peter Pan’s innocence.  Witness for the defense included:  Wendy Darling, Tinker Bell and Peter Pan himself.

After both sides presented their case the Honorable Judge Ross turned the decision over to the jury.  The jury consisted of lost boys, pirates and indians.  After deliberating the jury came back with a decision.

The Judge called the court back to order, asked the jury foreperson if they had reached a decision.  The decision, written on a piece of paper and signed was handed to the baliff who gave it to the court clerk who then gave it to the Judge.  The Judge opened the paper, read the verdict then gave the paper back to the court clerk.

Peter Pan was called to the front as the verdict was read….The court clerk said “we the jury find the defendant, Peter Pan, ……….Not guilty.

Thus the trial ended.  Peter Pan was free to go back to Neverland with Tinker Bell where he wouldn’t have to grow up.

It was a wonderful time.  The kids did great and the Judge was awesome.  After the trial, he took time to talk with the kids.  He asked questions, the kids asked question and even the parents asked questions.  The Judge was very open and willing to share his knowledge with us.

This was truly a wonderful and fun learning experience.

Check out the slide show.  I took 217 pictures but I’ll only share a few with you.

God Bless!

Until next time……
